Heart Health

Heart disease is still the No. 1 killer in the nation, taking almost 634,000 lives in 2015 (the most recent data). Although the causes of heart failure are legion, unhealthy weight, sedentary lifestyle and tobacco use are right near the top.

Our hearts beat 60 to 100 times a minute, or 2.5 billion to 4.2 billion heartbeats over an 80-year lifespan. That’s a lot of work for a muscle the size of your fist, so show it some love. There’s no magic potion for heart health, but simple steps are: Diet and exercise. Get regular medical checkups and make any lifestyle changes your doctor recommends.
